Egtvedpigen’s World – A journey 3500 years back in time<\/h2>\n

In June 2026, a brand new and unique museum will open, bringing the story of the famous Egtved Girl to life in a whole new way.<\/p>\n

The World of the Egtved Girl is much more than a traditional museum. In close collaboration with Vejlemuseerne<\/a>, an experience is created that integrates the story of the 3500-year-old Egtved Girl directly into the surrounding landscape. Visitors are invited to experience the Bronze Age through play, discovery and active exploration of the area where the Egtved Girl once lived and traveled. <\/p>\n

The Egtved Girl is one of the most significant and well-preserved finds from the Danish Bronze Age. When her grave was discovered in 1921, it opened a unique door to the world of the past. Her preserved costume, jewelry and the organic materials in the grave have provided archaeologists and researchers with invaluable knowledge about Bronze Age life, culture and traditions. But who was she really? And how did people live in this remote period of Danish history? <\/p>\n

The Bronze Age and the importance of travel<\/h3>\n

One of the most characteristic features of the Bronze Age was the need for mobility and the ability to travel long distances. Trade in bronze, amber and other valuable materials required extensive networks and well-functioning transportation routes. This is why the H\u00e6rvejen<\/a> played a central role as the main artery through Jutland, and this historic route runs directly through the Egtved area. <\/p>\n

The World of the Egtved Girl will therefore be naturally integrated into H\u00e6rvejen as a living part of this historic route. Visitors will not only be able to explore the museum and the landscape around Egtved, but also experience how the site is part of a larger story of Bronze Age travel, trade and cultural connections across much of Europe. <\/p>\n

Through interactive installations, landscape-based activities and innovative communication, children and adults alike can step into the world of the Egtved Girl. Here they can feel the landscape under their feet, understand how Bronze Age people navigated the terrain, and gain a deep and meaningful connection to one of Denmark’s most important archaeological finds. <\/p>\n

The museum becomes not just a place to visit, but a destination where the past comes alive and the experience extends far beyond the museum walls and into the very landscape that shaped the Bronze Age people.<\/p>\n
