We are open all year round.
The winter months are very different from summertime, because although there is always a lot of peace and quiet at Egtved Camping, the experience is very different from camping in the summer. The campsite is less crowded, and there’s a special, almost magical calm in winter.
Nature is still magnificent, but the sounds are different, the birdlife is different and the people you meet when winter camping are people who love nature for better or worse. Unlike summer holiday camping, it’s not sun and warmth but frosty days and the coziness of darkness that characterize the experience. Many people choose winter camping because it provides a sense of freedom and intimacy at a time when the pace is often slower.
Another thing winter camping at Egtved Camping can do is cozy up inside our common room. When darkness falls early, you can light candles, make hot chocolate and play games in our common room. Here you can fire up the wood-burning stove and cozy up with your family or other winter campers. The contrast between the cold outside and the warmth inside is something that many campers highlight as very special. Real chill time!
Our shop is closed during winter, but the reception is open by appointment. You can always book your stay online and check in using the code on your booking confirmation. You will be directed to selected winter pitches, as not all pitches are accessible by carriage during the winter months. If you need help or prefer personal service, you can call between 9-17 between 1.10.25-8.3.26.
Our service buildings, i.e. shower and kitchen, are naturally heated.
Generally speaking, our guests are left to their own devices during the winter months, although they will often see us around the campsite as we are busy renewing, repairing and preparing for the next season. In addition, we have up to 40 permanent campers who camp all year round, so there are always campers on site.
As a host couple, we also host a few food events in the common room during the winter, and it’s actually something that those who have been there before really look forward to. Meeting over a meal is the cohesion of socializing.
If you’re not into winter camping but would like to experience the magic of winter at Egtved Camping, you can also rent some of our cabins during the winter months. Our mobile homes are heated and give you the opportunity to experience winter camping without having to stay in a caravan.
In short, winter camping is a combination of nature, simplicity and coziness, where you get a different vacation experience outside the high season. It’s a great option for those looking for peace, intimacy and new impressions during the dark months.
